Led by a black belt.

Chris McKinney — school owner, head coach, black belt, and United States Army Veteran — leads every program at Arte Suave with decades of competition and cage experience.
Our lineage traces back to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legends and multiple-time World Champions Saulo and Xande Ribeiro. Saulo received his black belt from Royler Gracie in 1995 and passed that knowledge to Chris Blanke, his first American black belt. Chris McKinney received his black belt from Bryan Atterson and is now affiliated with Chris Blanke and Six Blades.
Our goal is to give students the knowledge, skill, and composure to not only survive, but to prevail — whether on the mat in a tournament, in the cage, or in the street. We do it in a spirit of brotherhood: friends helping friends improve their Jiu Jitsu and their lives.

Come train at our large, clean facility with extensive mat space for Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, boxing, and MMA — right on South Fayette Street in Beckley. Dressing rooms and toilets on site.
